Jason and I first met when I lived in Vail, CO during his two-year trip to the states. The few times we were able to get together we had a blast riding the mountain and geeking out on photography and travel talk. Jason is quite the photographer himself.

Jason returned to Australia almost four years ago and met Janet while walking along the beach one day. Janet is from Germany and was backpacking through Australia at the time.

I have never met a couple so thrilled by nature and willing to dedicate much of their lives to exploring it. They have an appreciation for the beauty that surrounds us. Jason’s photographs have inspired me to shoot more myself.

I can’t begin to say how honored I am that Janet and Jason flew me overseas to document their wedding day.  It was an unforgettable experience and the furthest I have ever been from home. I must thank Julie and John (Jason’s parents) for opening their home to me and feeding me so wellJ. I look forward to the next happy hour with you two in Seattle this summer!!

As far as their wedding day story goes, I’ll just let the photos do the talking on this one.

Scott and Katie were friends of mine before I even moved to Seattle.  In fact, Scott drove our moving truck many of the miles from Vail! They decided to create a mountain getaway at the famous Timberline Lodge for their wedding weekend. This hotel is where the exterior shots for the movie “The Shining” were filmed. The wedding day included endless personal touches. Katie wore a wedding dress her mother made and Scott wore family cufflinks, one from each of his grandfathers. There were also some pretty incredible speeches, to top it all off.  By the time the weekend was all over, people were digging their car out of a few feet of freshly fallen snow. It made Scott very happy that his family was getting the full effect of winter at Timberline.

I would like to give a special thanks to Preston Utley, who traveled out from Denver to assist me on this wedding.

Our afternoon together was well worth the wait.

Leot and Vaughn have all the love, respect, understanding, and kindness for one another that a couple could possibly have in a relationship. It was truly inspiring for me to photograph.

Leot planned an incredible event that was like nothing I have ever seen before. From choosing the One & Only Ocean Club, to a completely interactive cocktail hour, she planned every last detail.

Photographing Vaughn was like photographing a good friend—he was easygoing, down to earth and had no problem showing the world his love for Leot.  Their ceremony was touching as they read their own vows and exchanged tears with their families.

I had the privilege of photographing Leot, Vaughn, their family and friends for three days with the incredible Preston Utley assisting me. To me this wedding assignment was special on so many levels.

Meredith and Chris’s wedding day began at their first home—the home they just recently bought together. Their morning was spent stealing kisses in the hallway and hanging out with family while they prepared for the wedding. It was wonderful to photograph both of them in their new space, with their family and evidence of their day-to-day life in the mix.  The familiar surroundings added a very special element.

They held a small wedding up the street at the Mt Baker Community Center.  Meredith, Chris, their family and friends poured a lot of love into this wedding and made it very special.

I first met Brooke & Jonathan at Kelly & Justin’s wedding in Vail, CO.  I love working with couples who have attended other weddings I’ve photographed, and I’m lucky it happens often.

Our good buddy Beans turns six today. When he finally wakes up in the morning, he sits at the top of the stairs–groggy, he looks at me in my office until I notice him.

We love you big guy.

John and I have been crossing paths for the last few years at the Cordillera golf club. I used to shoot their lifestyle photography and John is golf pro there. Having said that, we didn’t really get to know one another until we found ourselves chatting it up on bar swings in Mexico, until 2am, following Kirstin and Darren’s wedding.

A few weeks later John emailed me about his wedding day with Jackie.

Born and raised in the Vail Valley, Jackie brought a kind of “home turf” presence to her wedding day. Their wedding was at the Cordillera Summit Course and was one of the most emotional, well-spoken ceremonies I have ever photographed. Surrounded by family and many people they grew up with, the love ran incredibly deep.

I could go on and on, so I think the photos should do the rest of the talking.

Christina and Chad decided to have a small wedding at the Holy Rosary Church in West Seattle. From there we traveled to the Washington countryside for their reception at Lord Hill Farms.

I was pretty excited to have my best man Preston Utley from Colorado here to assist me. Here is a small collection from their day.
