Farewell to my partner Chase, whom I could not possibly love more.

Chase was found on the streets of Denver, starving, with wire around her neck. She found me single, in a studio apartment putting myself through art school. The timing was perfect.

It’s simply not possible to sum up her life or the relationship we had in words and since she hated my camera that makes it hard too. One thing that was certain is that she was always there with me. We never left one another’s side. She even came to many of my college classes back in the day.

She was there during my photo assignments in school.

She was there on all the road trips back home to NY,

she was a social butterfly at parties,

when I received the call that my father had passed away,

she was even in the last photo ever taken of my father.

She came to work with me when I was a painter everyday for 2 years after college,

when I moved to Seattle, when I got my first photo job in Vail.

She was only feet from me when I met the love of my life Lindsay,

and she was right there when I asked Lindsay to be my wife.

For the last few years Chase could not move so well and eight months ago lost one of her legs to cancer, she would spend her days lying in my office, as I would edit. Sometimes right under my feet.

Her absence is noticed every step I take.

I am close to tears after reading what you wrote! She came into your life for a reason...as every person does! She was well loved - just shows what a great human being you are. Take care......sending you lots of love.
    Your cousin,
    Jen

Rest in Peace. Great shot of Chase. You guys had quite a history. I remember the first time I met Chase she jumped up onto the counter at the cage and scared me half to death. Then we got to live together and I would choke from the smell of her farts. She was always great to go on walks with, scaring the bums and crackheads of Capitol Hill. Chase led an amazing life you and her were soul mates. And I'm sure her and Mindy are battling it out right now in doggie heaven.
